Caleb and Simon

Hangin in the pool

Simon was spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa and received the Wii, his most wished for gift

Well, we had a world wind Christmas, that's for sure. It started on Wed Dec 17. We headed out to sunny FL after a night of WI snow. What a year it has been already with this snow.

Anyway, we landed in Orlando on time and were greeted at the airport by Grandma and Grandpa. What a greeting! It was 80 when we landed, gotta love that, and it continued to stay warm the whole trip.

For 2 days, we hung out with the folks and spent time at the pool. I almost forgot my birthday! It is so warm down there, like a whole nother world, you forget its December. On the third day we were supposed to head to Disney and spend the remainer of the trip there, but Simon did not want to leave Grandma so we stayed with them. We headed to Clermont to visit Angie and the cousins. That was big fun, she had a surprise party for me including balloons, cool Mickey hats and a cake. Then we were off to Downtown Disney, never been there. It was alot of fun.
On my birthday, we went to the Magic Kingdom. Expect for it being SUPER crowded, it was fun. Then the fun started. On Monday we left Lady Lake at 1pm, stopped for lunch and arrived at the Orlando airport by 3pm. Our flight was to leave at 5pm, plenty of time. Until we learned our plane was delayed coming from Detroit. We had a connecting flight in Memphis at 7:35, plenty of time they told us. HA-we missed our plane! Simon and I had to spend a scary night in Memphis, we did manage to get out at 9:30 Tuesday morning, an hour later than expected. What a trip, it took us 21+ hours to get home! I felt like Planes, trains and automobiles. Needless to say, I will only fly non-stop from now on and I will never travel on a Holiday again. Merry Christmas, enjoy some of the photos
Happy New Year!! the Zagorski's

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Today was another wintery day in WI. Simon had school, which was so surprising since they cancelled it last week when it was not nearly as bad.... oh well. I had alot of time to get much accomplished, I wrapped presents, got caught up on my checkbook, started packing for FL. The packing helped me get thru the day, just day dreaming about the warmth. My mom said it was 78 today..ahhhh. I have all my Christmas ready to go, shopping is done. What a great feeling.

Over the weekend we were invited by our good friends the Kohn's to breakfast with Santa at the Pfister. What a wonderful day. Here is a photo of Simon talking to the Mrs. We loved her expression and wondered what in the world he said to her. He has been asking for 2 very specific things and he tells everyone he can. I want a WII and a cement driveway so I can get a basketball hoop. : ) Miracles can happen right??

Another snowy day......

Snow day!

Well, its Dec 1, there is a bad snow storm and then the first day off of school! Sorry I have not been updating lately. Life gets so busy. Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. We served at the Scott Christian youth center again this year. Simon and I did drinks this year. Randy made it home from hunting last night with a doe in the back of the truck. That was exciting. We did lots of fun things while daddy was gone....dinner out, movies, ice skating. 16 days until we leave on our trip to Florida, and with the weather yesterday and today I can not wait to go!!

Life as we know it.

Wow, I can not believe it has been so long since I have been on. Life is pretty much been normal around here. School, work, homework etc....nothing too exciting. Last weekend we saw the Madagascar 2 movie and celebrated Jenny's 12th birthday. Here is a photo I took today. I have been practicing on Molly Leedle, she is a darling little baby and a very good sport. : )

Angels of Autumn

The Angels of Autumn
I LOVE this image.....

Simon in his robot coat....what he used as a costume.

Today we visited a nursing home to hand out candy. We did this last year. Erica Sanchez organizes this instead of trick or treating. The kids dress up and hand out candy, and of course they get to keep some. Everyone is happy. The people love seeing the kids. We took Tango along with us, she was super great with the folks. They loved her and she just snuggled right up to them. She is a very, very good dog and we were sad when they came to get her tonight. Talk was going around the house that we should hide her and say she ran away....naughty.

Fun filled day

Day off of school, what fun! We were invited to the Kohn's where the kids carved pumpkins, painted a wooden candy corn (which Amy made by the way) and went on a super fun 4wheeler ride. The mom's relaxed while the dad's had control of the kids! How nice was that? After that Simon and I went on a photo shoot for a friend. Did I mention the weather???? HOW beautiful was today??

Boy scout cake auction

We had a pack meeting tonight. A fundraiser. We were to bake a cake and bring it in for auction. I was feeling pretty confident with my cake until I walked into the gym and saw all the other cakes! Wow, some families really went all out. So....then the boys get to bid on their favorite cakes, some cakes sold for alittle money, some sold for alot. $52 was the highest I think.Simon had to have our cake, so continued to bid on it until he won. We ended up paying $17 for our own cake!! It was all fun.

Tonight I had parent/teacher conference with Mrs OH. It went well. Simon is doing good, struggling alittle with reading and writing, but overall she is happy with his work. Me too.

What a week!!

I know, I know. It has been a week since the last post. I try, but am not always able to do it daily. This has been a crazy week.

Simon woke up on Monday morning with a "sore cheek" I knew what that meant. Infected salivary gland again. I called the dr for antibiotics, she suggested seeing an ENT. So, he went to school, swollen cheek and all. We saw the ENT on Wed. He has recurrent Paratosis. Occurs in kids between the ages of 5-10. Nothing serious, just annoying.

On Thursday he slammed his pinkie finger in the car door. Not pretty, lots of tears, lots of blood. He is fine now, but it was scary.

Friday night was our BIG harvest party with the 21 kids. They had a blast with in the dark scavenger hunts, pin the nose on the scarecrow, stories by the bon fire and just running around the yard in the dark with the flash lights. God was so good to us, the weather cleared up for the party and when it was all done, the rain started again. What a blessing. I can not believe I did not take 1 photo at the party, too busy with crowd control. They were all really good and had a great time. Here is a photo from about a month ago at a fall function
Today, Saturday, I did some photos for Laurie's kids, adorable. Then off to the Mineshaft for lunch and games. We spent the afternoon with the Bushman's and had LOTS of fun!! They are such good friends. I am exhausted, Randy is up north, so off to bed early for me.

Prize winning pumpkin

Tiger Cubs on a hike.
Prize winning Pumpkin....the I love my Mummy.

Last week Michael's (the craft store) had a pumpkin decorating event. Today was the judging for the contest. We brought our pumpkin in and were to pick it up at 5pm. Went we went to get the pumpkin, it was gone. Simon thought maybe his was so bad they threw it away, on the contrary.....he WON!! They had it in the back room and were trying to call us to tell him the good news. He won a $10 gift card to Michaels and immediately spent it on an alien making kit. He was soooo excited.

Yesterday Randy and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary. And they said it wouldn't last! We had dinner at Johnny Manhattan's.

Today was also the last day of soccer (next up,basketball in January) and a Tiger Cub meeting.
We went on a nature hike and collected leaves. It was fun.

Do pumpkins float?

The question of the day....do pumpkins float? Well, Simon found out at school and I did not
believe him, so he proved it. Pumpkins DO float. Very interesting. Always the scientist. We then met up with Nathaniel, our good buddy who has now lost his 2 front teeth!! Cute.

The week goes so fast

Well, I was told by my mom today that "no new blogs" what's up? SO....here we go. The week just seems to fly by. With working at church now and school not much goes on during the week.Simon has been battling a cold all week. On Friday we played Apple Smash with the Kohn boys.We went and picked up a bunch of rotten apples from a friend from church and then we pitched the balls to the guys who hit as hard as they could and...apple smash. Lots of apples for the deer to nibble on. On Saturday, Simon signed up for a science class thru the rec department. They made slime, cotton candy and some other experiments with chemicals. He loved it. Then he went to frog pond with the boys while I did some photos. Today is Sunday, he spent the day with Rene and Vanesa and I spent the day trying to get our new HDTV set up!!! I am not very good at that, so the service man will be coming tomorrow. : ) This is very exciting. Good sports weekend, Packers and Jets won, beautiful weather weekend, this is why I love fall. The week ahead will be exciting, Simon is special kid of the week and I am trying to get rid of the 100 japanesee beetles that have invaded my house. : (

A day loaded with fun

What a day we had. It started with the soccer game at 9am. Grandma and Grandpa came to watch, which is always a plus. After the game, we went to the Gtown Fire Dept, fire safety day. They had tons of fun things for the kids, free! We did the same thing last night in Richfield. After that he wanted to swim so off to the pool we went. He wanted to swin in the deep section so the lifeguard said he had to take a swimming test. He had to swim the length of the pool AND back in the 6ft side. He did it!! I was very proud of him, so he got to do cannonballs in the deep part, very thrilling. After that, off to the apple orchard for some fresh apples. That is always good fun. Mom was exhausted so we came home, he of course did not stop. As I made dinner, he helped Randy haul wood, he raked leaves into a pile and carved a pumpkin so we could make seeds. I have no idea where he gets this endless engery.

From God

A friend from MOPS and I have been trying to get the "perfect" new photo of her daughter. Something she saw on an email. A baby with a sign "From God" on it. How did we do? It's been fun working with her and her adorable kids.

The spelling test

As a first grader you are expected to know 10 new spelling words per week. On Friday there is a test. Well, the first week, not so good, the second week, much better, last week 100%!! : )

We work hard on these words and Julie helps him study too. Hard work pays off. I am very proud of him.

Tiger Cub

We started a new chapter in Simon's life. Cub Scouts. Tonight he had his first pack meeting.

They loved it, they built boats and had races. Simon was upset at first he lost, but won the Best

Scout Spirit award. He looks adorable in the uniform. Randy said it brings back lots of good memories for him. It should be fun.

Weekend in review

Marcy and Rebecca
The kids at the breast cancer walk this morning. 1k.

The bungy jumper!

What a wonderful weekend. Friday night we had Nathaniel over to play, it is so hard to get together now that school has started, so it was really great to see him. Saturday was soccer, then we had a family photo appointment. After that Simon and I went to the Washington County Fall Festival where he did a very expensive but worth the hour wait ride. He was strapped into a bungy type jumping thing. He loved it, I was dizzy just watching. I worked Saturday night. Sunday we all did the Susan G Koemen walk for breast cancer. We walked in honor of all the women we have known how have suffered thru the disease. Marcy, our good friend is a breast cancer survivior! We love you Marcy. The rest of the afternoon was spent with good friends, Matt and Brad. The "hurricane" shelter they made last week was now stocked with blankets, snacks and drinks. What fun. Well, back to school tomorrow. Good thing, I need the rest! : ) Hope you had a great weekend as well.

Open House

Simon and Mrs Otzelberger-Held (his teacher)
Simon and Dad outside of school

Last night was school open house at Amy Belle. Simon was so proud as he showed Randy and I all around his school. In his room, we met the teacher, saw his desk and he read us a book he made. It was so exciting to see him take ownership of "his" school and all that it is. We then headed to the gym for ice cream sundae's and we signed up for Tiger Scouts. Otherwise the week has been good, he started Sparkies on Wed, which is always the highlight of the week.
The weekend weather looks beautiful so enjoy......M

Simon making a good save

Today was a very fun day. We started at soccer, which Simon did very well today. I know they don't keep score, but the orange team got alot of goals today. That always makes the game more fun. After that, our little buddy Drew Kermendy turned 2. Can you believe it? The party was super fun, Teri did a great job with all she did. The kids had a blast, grown ups too!! Here are a few photos from our day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. M

Crazy busy

Simon and Matt at MOPER pond.
Simon and Paige getting ready for the sleep over.

This has been one of those weeks. You know the kind I am talking about, there never seems to be enough time to do the things we need to do. Well, one thing we are never short of time for is friends. On Tuesday we played with Nathaniel. On Wednesday, we picked up Paige from school, she was supposed to sleep over, but at 9ish her mom came and got her. Teri finished school earlier than she thought, we also had dinner with Rene, Vanesa and Lydia AND went to meet the new teacher for Sparkies, we came home for a bon fire before bed. Today I worked, went to have lunch with Simon at school and did walking Wildcats. After school we went to "Moper" pond to catch frogs with the Kohn boys. It was really fun and they have the craziest names for frogs....tonight they tried and tried to catch "nutcracker Joe" Where they got that from I do not know. Simon has a spelling test again tomorrow so we came home for studying before bath and bed. See what I mean???

MOPS kickoff

Today was the kickoff for our fall MOPS program at church. As Midweek Childcare Coordinator at the church, it is my job to see that the MOPS kids are all well taken care of. I was pretty confident going into this morning that things were right on track. No problem. What I was not prepared for were the 20 walk in mom's that came in this morning to register. Not to worry, our very excellent staff handled the job like pro's. We had a total of 86 kids in childcare today. Not the record, but very close. All in all, it went very smoothly

oops

super duper cute!
super cute!

I forgot to update after I put in the title.
Simon's best buddy Nathaniel got a puppy. She has no name yet, but she is super adorable.
So we stopped over to meet her today. After that we went to celebrate 2 family birthday's
Danielle is now 18, Timmy turned 9. It was a fun afternoon with the cousins. I was going to take a photo of the birthday kids, but that darn Evelyn is sooo cute I could not resist. She fell asleep while I was rocking her and I loved it.
The 2nd week of first grade was good. Simon had his first spelling test on Friday, we worked really hard practicing those 10 words. I am not sure how he did, but he said he got them all right. The days go by so fast now with him in school all day. I have not had much to update during the week. He goes to school, we have been trying to keep in touch with friends by going to the park, or playing for alittle bit after school. I was busy getting ready for our fall kickoff next week at church. I have also been going to the gym everyday too.

What a day

What a day
Friday...it was Simon's pretend birthday celebration at school. I made dirt cups which they all enjoyed. It was also his "practice" day eating lunch at school in preparation for next year. After school we ventured to LaFleurs. Here is Simon and his "wife" as he calls her. But if you ask him about it he will deny it. So no mention of Alexis, ok?

Catching up

Catching up
ok...so daily blogging isn't as easy as I thought it would be. This will be our week so far. Tuesday....We had our good friend Paige over along with Grandma Jo and Grandpa for dinner. It was so fun. Building a tent in the laundry room!!

Wednesday, still catching up!!

Wednesday, still catching up!!
Spent the day with friends, fishing again at frog pond. I think 8 frogs, 5 fish and 1 turtle we found today. What fun. Everyone except Amy (including me) took a spill of some sort.

Sad day

Sad day
Thursday, today. We found this tiny adorable little duckling that was abonded by his mom and siblings. He had a hurt leg and they left him behind. SImon and I decided we would rescue him and make him well and then set him free. We took him with us to school, showed all his friends and his teacher. His final instructions to me on the playground were..."mom, take care of my duck until I get home" I knew I was doomed. Well, sadly the tiny duck died. Here is a photo of him. We then had a ducky funeral with some of his friends. It was all good until Jackson dug him back up and was carrying him around!! Daddy and Simon found a good spot for him and reburied him tonight, next to the 3 dogs and 2 cats we already have buried in the back yard. Rest in peace.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day
Today was spent at one of Simon's classmates houses. Alexandros invited the class over, first they have an indoor pool, so they all went swimming, then...they have a pond in the backyard..Simon caught the first fish after that they caught 7 total and 6 frogs. We came home to enjoy the rest of the day in the yard. We even helped dad set up our pool. Now, if the weather warms up and stays warm come swim anytime!! Hope your long weekend was full of fun!

Picnic

Picnic
We spent the day at the Kermendy's. It was good friends, good food and good fun. The kids had such a great time together. Paige mastered the jump rope, jumping 30x before missing...that was the record!! Congrats Paige! Drew had fun just trying to keep up with the big kids. I have attached a photo of his feet at the end of the day. A sure sign fun was had! We are so happy they are not moving away!

life is so busy

life is so busy
Where do the days go?? I try to blog everyday so you can all keep up with us, but at the end of the day, I am exhausted!! Lets see, we'll start with way back last Friday. It was our mom's and kid's Friday Fun Day. Some of us moms and kids from his class regularly get together to do a fun activity on Friday afternoons after school. Last Friday was no exception. We were all at the zoo. I have attached some photos of our trip. Who needs to see animals when you have your friends around to play with. It was a great day of fun.

Sunny day

Sunny day
Today was such a beautiful day, we spent the afternoon at Lannon quarry doing some fishing and hanging out with friends. Here is the group. 1 fish was caught, by Marcy!! It just felt great to be outside. The rest of day was spent at home with our good friend Rene.

Not a good idea

Not a good idea
Ok.....don't try this at home!! Yesterday Randy and Simon climbed up to the TOP of the scaffolding!! Oh my. They called me on the cell phone and told me to come outside and see where they were...yikes. Yesterday was full of bittersweetness (is that a word?) Anyway, I graduated from MOPS. It was good, but sad that that season of my life is over. We are moving on to bigger and better things. Life is good.

Frog pond

Frog pond
Well, we finally made it to the much talked about "frog pond" We went with some good friends..it was all boy. They were so excited. 1 frog and 5 fish were caught. We were tormented by a big fish we labeled "dead eye" He looked like he had been hooked in the eye before but somehow escaped. Well...dirty dead eye would swim up close to the bait and then turn his nose up at it. He did this many times which was very frustrating to the boys would wanted to land a big one. It makes for a good fish story anyway. We have heard there are HUGE bullfrogs in this pond, so we will return!!

She's back!!

She's back!!
Well, after the long winter, Grandma Jo is finally back in town for 6 weeks. Simon was thrilled to see her and spent the afternoon catching up and playing. It is so good to have her back....we all miss her terribly.
